Great IPhone Apps
July 8th, 2009
What can I say? I love gadgets! I got a new IPhone and have been looking for the “holy grail” of self help apps.
I’ve found a few but I’m sure there are more out there.
1. The Gratitude Journal $1.19
This app is a great habit to start if you don’t already do this. At the end of each day you get to give it a star rating and write down what you are grateful for. I’ve found it great because you can add pictures to help remember the day. It also has password protection.
2. Live Happy Free Trial
This is a free app. It’s based on scientific research that says doing the exercises in this app contribute to basically being happy. It has a gratitude Diary built in but it’s not geared up for daily entries. I think it’s important to do daily because invariably there will be what you’d consider a “crappy day” and if you can turn it around through being grateful for the things that were positive this will reduce the power of the crap. It has exercises like doing good deeds for strangers, calling people or catching up with people you should more often. There’s a place to write your goals, ideal future. It’s got it all. Also password protected.
This one is more than a bunch of nature sounds. It has a timer and different binaural beats so you can use it for energising, sleeping, meditating or even studying which is what I’m going to be using it for. Putting your brainwaves in the right state for learning have never sounded better.
I’ve also tried The Habit Factor but think Live Happy kind of does all this in the one app. A New Earth by Eckart Tole is just quotes from his book. Nothing really exciting there. I also downloaded Vision builder but without a password on it I’m not willing to get started.
If you know any great IPhone apps I haven’t mentioned please leave a comment or contact me through the contact form at Http://www.amindbodyandspirit.com

Counter intentions… are they holding you back?
July 8th, 2009
Well it’s been awhile and it took some feedback to get me logged back in. Shout out to Mr Yeoman in Sth Africa. You gave me the kick I needed.
I’ve been listening to a fantastic audio course by Joe Vitale called “The Missing Secret”. He appeared in The Secret and has had a lot more light to shed on The Law of Attraction.
So you’ve got the picture of the car up on your wall that you want. You look at it daily but you still don’t have it. Chances are you’ll get a lot out of this course. What you’re not doing is mimicing the feeling of owning that car like you already own it, plus you need to take action on any goal. Then you might just have a counter intention or two.
Counter intentions, i’ll give you the pefect example I’m currently witnessing. My friend is looking to buy a house. He goes to open for inspections and has looked at over 60 houses. His actions are moving in the right direction but his thoughts are counter intentional. He tells me “it’s so hard buying a house by yourself” (I’m the wrong person to go to because I’ve done it many times) and he’d “rather buy a place with someone” These counter intentions mean he will be stuck on a never ending search because subconsciously he really doesn’t want to buy a house on his own. If he cleared these counter intentions (there are some quick and easy ways to do this) then he would probably find the house of his dreams, if only his budget and perfectionistic expectations matched up.
A cute little bugg that helps you lose weight
March 14th, 2009
What will they think of next?
It’s here. The ultimate weight busting gadget. Ever wondered how many KJ’s you actually consume per day? Ever wonder how much you burn in a day? (did that walk up the stairs equal the kit kat I just ate?)
Wonder no more.
This cute little bugg measures things like motion how much you move, how much heat you give out, how much you sweat and skin temperature along with your basic details such as age weight and height combined can give you the information you need.
Its a bit more high tech than a HR monitor and sits higher up your arm.
Yes I love technology but do I $500 love it? Hmmmm not yet.

If I ask you what you had for breakfast this morning or where you went on your last holiday how can you recall this information. Most people will say “Because I remember” my question to you is how do you remember? When I ask people this question I will normally get the same response “Well I can see it” Isn’t that interesting even though the holiday may have been three months ago people can close their eyes and they can see themselves walking on the beach or doing the normal crazy things people tend to do while away.
There are many ways of the person seeing the picture, let’s do a little experiment to show you. First close your eyes (not yet) and take a deep breath in and see yourself doing something you love it can be anything, next open your eyes stand up then sit back down, close your eyes and imagine yourself doing something you really don’t like doing. Now my experience tells me that they were some big differences in the pictures. For example the color may have been different, most people I work with say the one they like is in color while the other is in black and white, the brightness, size, angle, focus and distance of picture will differ from the activity you liked doing to the one you didn’t like doing.
Where am I going with this? These days it seems you can’t go into an office or a public gathering without somebody telling you how stressed they are. My belief is there is no stress in the world yes I agree there are people who are so called “stressing” themselves out but there is no stress in the world, the world is exactly how it should be. These so called stressed people are just making bad pictures of everything that can go wrong in a particular situation then they use words to them self on why the situation just won’t work which in turns creates worse pictures. When I talk to these people about the situation it’s amazing what happens when you can change a few of the sub modalities of the picture they have in their head.
Now, we all live in the real world so I would like to give you a real world experience I had a few weeks ago.
I was at a pub with my brother and some of our close friends, about twenty meters away there were three girls playing pool, one of my friends wanted to go and say hello but for some reason couldn’t move of his chair. Now what pictures do you think he was making in his head? Correct pictures of the girls not talking to him or worse telling him to go away and having to come back to a table of guys laughing at him as only real friend can do. I took him aside and we spoke about the pictures he had in his head. After a quick session and changing some of the negative pictures he was seeing into positive ones he was well on his way.
The next time something comes up that used to “stress” you, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Make the picture of you successfully delivering your sales pitch, talking to that stranger on the train you see every morning, handing your report in on time whatever it is for you think in positive pictures. See yourself, feel the feelings of success hear what’s going on around you at the time experience it before it happens. These are your thoughts in your head so if you are thinking in pictures anyway why not make them positive ones!

Weight loss… isnt it easier to gain something?
January 28th, 2009
I had a conversation with a friend of mine who told me they wouldnt allow someone overweight to serve them in a clothing shop. Their reasoning… If they couldnt “serve themselves” well then how would they be able to serve him?
I thought about that for awhile. Then the wisdom of Sally hit me. She said “no one wishes themselves consciously to be overweight”.
So if you are overweight and its not what you want, you need to take a look at the real core reason of how you got there in the first place. Eating food is secondary to the reason behind the weight gain. No diet is going to change your subconscious. Thats why most diets fail. They dont deal with the psychology behind the weight gain. It could be anything from believing you dont fit in, that nobody loves you, that youre unlovable, invisible, not worthy or maybe it is because you believe you have no control in your life.
Food is the only thing you can control. So you make sure you have plenty of it.
Before you go on the “New Years resolution diet” have a think about the real reason you put on weight?
What belief is it that got you to where you are?

Insomnia, your worst nightmare
January 26th, 2009
So you”ve tried counting sheep… Tried herbal teas, tried Valerian (natural sleep herb), drunk warm milk before bed, tried shining a light behind your knees and many other sleep tips and you just can”t sleep.
If it helps “Insomnia” by Faithless is one of my all time favourite songs. I guess that doesn”t really help you.. Alright back to the issue at hand..
One major cause of Insomnia is a “busy mind” it just won”t shut down. If that’’s what’’s causing you no sleep than writing everything down that is going around in your head may help.
A treatment for Insomnia that may be helpful is a trick you can play on your mind. If your mind won”t shut down, bore it so it decides that’’s the preferred option. I call it the “Sleep-Board” This is how it works:
Close your eyes. Now picture a blackboard.
In your mind draw a big circle on the blackboard and write the number 100 in it. Underneath that write the word “deeper”. Picture it? Ok, now get your eraser and rub out the number 100, carefully so you don”t erase the circle. Then write the number 99 and re-trace the word “deeper”. Then erase the number 99 from the circle and write no 98 and then write deeper again over the top of the existing written “deeper”. Your mind will most probably try and fight you. It will want you to forget which number you”re up to. If you do happen to forget which number you”re up to don”t worry, just quickly pick a new number to start from say 95 if you forget. Your mind will eventually get so bored it will shut down due to boredom. You do need to focus 100% on the blackboard. If you let your mind think about 3 other things whilst visualizing the Sleep board, then it won”t work.
Due to the amount of mediation tracks I own, a lot of friends have come to me asking for something to help them sleep in the form of an mp3.
I have often given them a track that creates Theta brainwaves. Theta creates a drowsy state, unless you”ve been meditating for years and can be conscious and be in Theta at the same time.. (Highly unlikely for most of the population) This track in it’’s raw form doesn”t sound very pleasant so I”m in the process of creating a “Sleep like a baby” mp3 to give free to my mailing list when the website gets up and running.
Ayurveda - Shirodhara Massage = oil dripping on your head
January 11th, 2009
I went to my friendly Ayurvedic therapist on Friday and got a massage with some paste made from lentils and then I had a Shirodhara. In Sanskrit language Shirodhara is composed of two words shiro + dhara, shiro means head and dhara means flow. In ayurveda the warm oil flow on head is known as Shirodhara.
I”d heard about it but had no idea the kind of brain state it would put me in. Watch the video for the best explanation but you lie on a table and your head hangs over a bowl. There’’s a bowl strung above your head with a small hole in the bottom. Oil is poured into this bowl and the oil flow is directed at the middle of your forehead. (3rd eye) It was the first time in a long time that the “mind chatter” stopped. When the Shirodhara was finished I felt like I”d woken up from a deep sleep but I knew I hadn”t been sleeping. I couldn”t think about anything. It was incredible. My hair is so soft from the oils. The only downside.. bring a cap when you go because the “oil hair” look probably won”t be in fashion anytime soon.
If you live in Melbourne and want to go (a lot cheaper than what day spas charge) let me know and i”ll give you the details..
Can you be spiritual and have money?
January 9th, 2009
“I don’t care too much for money; money can’t buy me love.” —The Beatles
Can a person have both wealth and a connection to spirit? Sages and ordinary people have considered this question for centuries.
Jesus is credited with saying that an elephant could fit through the eye of a needle more easily than a rich man could go to heaven. The Christian Bible urges followers to give their money to the poor.
Jews are urged to give away some, but not all, of their money. Poverty is not a virtue. The distress of poverty can make people lose sight of their spiritual sides and can undermine their self-confidence and self-esteem. People cannot contribute to the life of the community from an impoverished, victimized position.
The medieval Jewish philosopher Maimonides held that material wealth is useless as an end in itself, but can be useful in the pursuit of greater spirituality. Judaism asserts that seeking wealth is a noble pursuit if the money is used to perform good deeds and no one is hurt in the quest for wealth. Money is not inherently bad; it doesn’t necessarily interfere with the spiritual life, but it’s surely not the source of it. Money is of limited use because value and security can only come from within, not from an external, material source.
The Buddha taught, “If you have little, give little; if you own a middling amount, give middling amount; if you have much, give much. It is not fitting not to give at all…I say to you, share your wealth, use it. Tread the path of the Noble Ones. One who eats alone eats unhappily.”
Buddhism views material wealth as a source of desire and attachment, which are detrimental to spiritual growth. But poverty can also become an attachment when it is pursued intentionally or on principle. Buddhism eschews poverty if it adds to the inherent suffering of life.
If there is one common theme among the disparate philosophies, it is that money cannot create spirit. But can a person pursue both wealth and a spiritual life in one lifetime? Can material wealth and spirituality exist together or does money destroy spirit?
I have seen many virtuous people give so much of themselves to other people that they have forgotten how to give to themselves. There is too much guilt around having an abundance of money. As a result many people create lives whereby they have none.
Money isn’t the totality of wealth but think not you can grow to your full spiritual capabilities without money because you can’t. You can’t study different cultures, read books, do courses without it.
Are Martyrs anymore spiritual than financially abundant people whom set up schools in third world countries?
Food for thought.

Holosync Meditation
December 23rd, 2008
What is Holosync? It’’s a meditation audio course. There are 12 levels. You can become an “Inner circle” member for a bargin price of $1800 to $2,000. The first basic level is $179 US. After the 1st level you get to customise your levels by ringing up and reading out a whole lot of affirmations you”ve chosen over the phone. It puts your voice on a loop and embeds it into the audio. You can”t hear your voice but apparently it’’s in there.
What is Holosync supposed to do? Because it puts a different frequency in your left to your right ear the brain has to create neuron pathways between both hemispheres to balance the frequency. This leads to more “whole brain” thinking.
I figured after years of going to the gym it was time that I exercised my brain. I saw an ad in the paper to “Meditate Deeper than a Monk” and got the sample. I”ve been meditating with Holosync and and off for over 6 years and I”m on level 5. Each level Bill says should take around 6 months to complete. Each level increases the depth of your meditation. i”d be on a higher level by now but my request for the next level didn”t get a response and the last few levels have taken a year to arrive.
So am I any different because of the meditation? I know things don”t get to me much anymore. Stress? Well a lot less than I used to. I”d say stress is down 80% if I had to quantify it.
Do I think Holosync is overpriced? Yes. Would I buy it again if I knew then what I know is out there now? No.
I”ve just started listening to new meditation tracks which are a lot cheaper. 3 Levels are $87! And you can buy the levels individually. The first time I listened to the second level it was amazing! With all the meditation audio’’s I have I really didn”t think there”d be much out there that would affect me. I”m going to keep listening daily for a few weeks to make sure it’’s as good as I think it is before i let you know about it. Stay tuned in the New year for the result.
My Akashic reading
December 19th, 2008
I had a reading done by Jafree a year ago. What did I learn? That there’’s 20,000 people in the world that are in my “soul group” (soul mates), that I should live near water, that I”ve met a few guys in my soul group but they didn”t match up to my ego’’s perception of what I thought I was looking for. That I need to quieten my mind.. (Monkey Zap works really well for that.) He said I have a natural talent for knowing what will sell. He’’s right, I do. Overall I did get some value from it. My soul seemed to have a lot to say to my mind.. It wasn”t specific information like “you”ll meet a tall dark-haired man” but that’’s not why I went. If you”re interested in the bigger picture I recommend you get an Akashic reading.
